Filmmaker moet film met seksscènes voor release aan Houellebecq laten zien

Filmmaker Stefan Ruitenbeek must show the film in which Michel Houellebecq plays the leading role to the French writer before its release. The Amsterdam Court of Appeal has determined this after Houellebecq feared that the film with sex scenes would damage his reputation. Ruitenbeek of the Dutch artist collective KIRAC edits a film with recordings by Houellebecq that were made at the end of last year.

	NL Film has produced the crime series Anonymous for BNNVARA. The series follows history teacher Jurre and public prosecutor Sarah, who each battle the criminal world in their own way. The series is directed by Diederik van Rooijen and can be seen weekly on NPO 1 and NPO Start from May 26.

Sweet Dreams is de openingsfilm van het Nederlands Film Festival 2023

The satirical drama film Sweet Dreams by director and screenwriter Ena Sendijarević is the opening film of the Netherlands Film Festival 2023. The film is about a Dutch-Indonesian family trying to deal with their heritage during the decline of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. The cast, including Renée Soutendijk and Peter Faber, will be present at the festival opening on September 22 in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.

Maldoror: Benoît Poelvoorde in de rol van Marc Dutroux?

Director Fabrice Du Welz and actor Benoit Poelvoorde are once again working together on a new project called 'Maldoror', inspired by the Marc Dutroux case. The film will hit theaters in 2024 and tells the story of a young recruit who becomes involved in the covert operation "Maldoror" to keep an eye on the activities of a notorious criminal. The director considers this the most important project of his career and will take some scriptual liberties to deviate slightly from reality.

FEBO-kortfilm geselecteerd voor Tribeca

A short film called Il Fait Beau, produced by Soda Films of Amsterdam, will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film, directed by Leonardo Cariglino, is about a foreigner who has just moved to Amsterdam and is looking for human warmth. He ends up in a FEBO snack bar where he makes eye contact with Sara, the girl who fills the shelves with fried goods. The recordings of De z van sister have started. The film is a funny road film about two twin sisters who are forced to work together after the death of their father. Director Jelle de Jonge and leading actors Bracha van Doesburgh and Elise Schaap are also creative producers of the film. The comedy, with Martin van Waardenberg and Maike Meijer, among others, will be released by Dutch FilmWorks in the fall of 2024.

	Comedians Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe have won the Honorary Silver Nipkow Disc for their satirical television program Even tot hier. The jury praised the duo for making difficult topics accessible to a wide audience and cleverly mixing those topics with other jokes about everything and everyone. The program has been broadcast since 2019 and won the Gouden Televizier-Ring 2022 last October.
