Kate Phillips has been appointed the BBC's new Chief Content Officer, a role considered the most important in British television. She succeeds Charlotte Moore, who left for Sony Pictures TV and Left Bank. Phillips, who was previously director of unscripted and took over as interim chief after Moore's departure, will oversee all BBC TV channels, BBC iPlayer, national radio stations and BBC Sounds, plus children's and education content. She has previously helmed successful shows including The Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing.
