Stijn Coninx's feature film Marina was awarded the Bernhard Wicki Award, the main prize awarded by the public, at the Emden-Norderney Film Festival in Germany (7-14 May). Marina took first place in equal terms with the French blockbuster Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu. Stijn Coninx came to receive the award personally. It is the festival audience that was able to cast its vote for the 14 films from the Bernhard Wicki Competition and overwhelmingly chose Marina. Stijn Coninx's feature film about the youth of the Italian-Belgian musician Rocco Granata shares first place with the French hit Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu (Monsieur Claude und seine Töchter) by Philippe De Chauveron; both films received exactly the same score down to three decimal places.
