The English film journalist and programmer Neil Young took the plunge this week on Indiewire. Under the provocative headline 'How many bad films does it take to ruin a festival?', he summarized a nagging feeling that has been heard among (international) film professionals for at least five years when it comes to the IFFR. Young's conclusion: if there are more bad films than good films at a festival, then there is a problem. In other words: Rotterdam is too big and not special enough.
