Felix van Groeningen's The Broken Circle Breakdown is one of nine films on the shortlist for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced this list on Friday. On January 16, the Academy will announce all official nominations in the various categories. The five nominees in the Best Foreign Language category will be chosen by secret ballot by the Foreign Language Film Award Committee. The Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in the Dolby Theater at the Hollywood & Highland Center. The ceremony, once again hosted this year by TV icon Ellen DeGeneres, will also be broadcast live worldwide in more than 225 territories.
