Brazilian Indian leader Ambrosio Vilhalva was murdered in his settlement in the state of Mato Grasso do Sul on Sunday evening. This was announced by Survival International, an organization that stands up for the rights of Indians. Vilhalva became known for his starring role in the film Birdwatchers, which premiered at the 2008 Venice Film Festival. He plays Indian leader Nadio who resists the oppression of his people and has to pay for it with death.
