The American Humane Association (AHA), the organization responsible for ensuring that animals do not suffer during filming, is not performing its duties properly. According to the Hollywood Reporter, serious events involving animals are being hushed up, downplayed or insufficiently investigated. In January, the AHA was sued, among others, for allegedly concealing serious animal suffering. For example, the tiger in Life of Pi is said to have almost drowned and the death of a horse in Steven Spielberg's War Horse was covered up.
