The Argentine Supreme Court has ruled that the Argentine government may forcibly break up private media groups if these companies can count more than 35 percent of the population as their audience. The verdict is a victory for President Cristina Fernandez and a defeat for media group Grupo Clarin. Clarin is one of the most outspoken opponents of Fernandez's government and has interests in newspapers, magazines, TV and radio.
