Italian director and screenwriter Carlo Lizzani has died at the age of 91. Lizanni took his own life by jumping from the third floor balcony of his home in the center of Rome. Carlo Lizanni was active as a documentary and filmmaker for more than sixty years. In 1951 he was nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay for his screenplay of Giuseppe de Santi's "Bitter Rice".
