A film that was to be made about the life of Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky has come into question. The director, Kirill Serebrennikov, is involved in a conflict with the Russian Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky. The focus is on Tchaikovsky's homosexual orientation. Medinski is only willing to contribute financially if the composer's private life is kept out of the film. According to him, it has never been proven that Tchaikovsky was gay. But Serebrennikov refuses to give in to that pressure.
