Scientists from Harvard University have developed a completely transparent and flexible loudspeaker. The speaker consists of two layers of saltwater gel, with a thin, transparent rubber layer in between. By running an electric current through the gel, the rubber layer vibrates and contracts, similar to the operation of regular speakers. In addition to being transparent, the speaker is also flexible. In the future, the speakers can also be used in 'soft machines', devices with a flexible screen.
