The number of gay and lesbian characters in Hollywood films must increase. This is stated by Glaad, the American COC, after conducting research into the number of openly gay characters in major blockbusters. In 2012, 101 major American studio films were released. These titles only featured 14 openly gay, lesbian and bisexual characters. Transgender people were certainly not included.
