There is two-way traffic between Twitter and TV. Tweets ensure higher viewer numbers for TV programs and vice versa, viewing extras also influence the number of tweets. The scores can mainly be seen in reality shows and comedy. An analysis of 221 TV programs during prime time shows that in almost a third of cases, tweets increase viewership. But conversely, in 48% of all cases, viewing extras also influenced the number of tweets about a program.
