Flemish Minister of Media Ingrid Lieten (SP.A) is amending the Media Decree, requiring (cable) distributors to invest part of their income in the Flemish audiovisual sector. Distributors, such as Belgacom and Telenet, will be able to choose whether they make the mandatory contribution to the Media Fund or to a Flemish co-production. The amount will be determined based on the number of subscribers. The scheme will take effect from 2014. The amount would be 3 million euros per year.
