At the beginning of 2014, the BBC will launch several new channels in HD. This includes BBC News, BBC Three, BBC Four and children's channels CBeebies and CBBC. BBC One and BBC Two were already available in HD. The high-resolution channels are offered to all regular broadcasters, but are also broadcast via digital terrestrial television. British television payers can therefore pick these channels off the air for free with a simple antenna and decoder. It is unknown whether Dutch cable companies will also transmit the channels in HD.
