Award-winning Indian filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 49. The director also suffered from inflammation of the pancreas, according to various reports. Ghosh, who made about twenty films in Bengali, mostly dealt with the problems of the Indian urban middle class in his prints. He rose to fame with the films 'Hirer Angti' or 'The Diamond Ring' (1994) and 'Chokher Bali' (2003). 'The Last Lear' from 2007 was in English and was about a retired actor who absolutely wants to return to the silver screen in the leading role of Shakespeare's King Lear. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan played the lead role.
