Russian cult director Alexei Balabanov died of a heart attack on Saturday at the age of 54. His family announced this, the Russian news agency Ria Novosti reported. In his work, Balabanov addressed taboos such as the oppression of guest workers and he made films about critically ill people. He became known with controversial films such as Cargo 200 (2007) and Morphine (2008).
