The 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival starts on Wednesday with The Great Gatsby by director Baz Luhrmann based on the book by writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. The second competition film to premiere on Wednesday is the Mexican drama Heli, about a young father and his family who are kidnapped. The film by director Amat Escalante is co-produced by the Dutch company Lemming Film (Het Schnitzelparadijs).
