British film director Bryan Forbes died on Wednesday at his home in Virginia Water in southeast England. Forbes, who is 86 years old, is best known for his horror film The Stepford Wives (1975). He had suffered from the incurable disease multiple sclerosis since 1975. Bryan Forbes, pseudonym of John Theobald Clarke, started his career as an actor in British films, such as The Colditz Story (1955). In 1961 he made his debut as a director with the film Whistle Down the Wind.
