Nanophysicists from the American company IBM Research have developed a stop-motion film called 'A Boy and His Atom' using thousands of tiny atoms. The making-of video clearly shows that it was a major effort to get the five thousand atoms from carbon monoxide to move according to a fixed pattern. By manipulating the chemical reactions of the atoms, the locations of the atoms could be determined.
