Australian actress Nicole Kidman and Taiwanese director Ang Lee are part of the jury that will award the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival next month. It had previously been announced that American director Steven Spielberg will lead the jury. Borgman by Alex van Warmerdam is among the 19 films competing for the Golden Palm. It has not happened since 1975 that a Dutch film has had a chance to win the most important prize during the film festival. This will open on May 15 with the screening of the film The Great Gatsby by Australian director Baz Luhrmann.
