A filmmaker who made a BBC documentary about polar bears on the Norwegian archipelago of Spitsbergen risks a fine of up to 6,700 euros. Norwegian authorities believe his activities have disturbed wildlife. Jason Roberts made the documentary The Polar Bear Family and Me for the British channel BBC, in which the polar bears were filmed from a transparent plastic cube. The documentary itself showed how a bear scratched and shook the box in which presenter Gordon Buchanan was located. Norwegian archipelago Governor Lars Erik Alfheim believes the crew violated a number of country regulations because "they appeared to disturb the polar bears."
