The FERA (Federation of European Filmmakers) has elected director Alan Parker as its new chairman. FERA represents the interests of film and television directors in the European film industry. Director, writer and producer Alan Parker is the creator of films such as Midnight Express, Fame, Pink Floyd - The Wall, Birdy, Angel Heart, Mississippi Burning and Evita. His feature films have won nineteen BAFTA awards, ten Golden Globes and ten Oscars. Parker is also a cartoonist. He was chairman of the British Film Council and the British Film Institute.
