Actress Sylvia Kristel died on Wednesday evening at the age of 60 from complications of esophageal cancer. Kristel also enjoyed great fame abroad. Due to the success of Emmanuelle, she later worked with well-known directors such as Alain Robbe-Grillet, Claude Chabrol and Roger Vadim. In 1978, Kristel played in the Dutch film Pastorale 1943 by Wim Verstappen. Later she appeared in several American films, such as Concorde-Airport (1979), The nude bomb (1980) and Private lessons (1981). The actress blames her illness on her alcohol and drug addictions, which she has never made a secret of. Sylvia Kristel is buried privately.
