Curator Daniela Sannwald is not pleased with the poster of the Romy Schneider exhibition in which the cigarette was erased from the actress's hand: 'That cigarette is essential to characterize what she was like.' At a press presentation of the exhibition, which runs until January 13 in the Caermersklooster in Ghent, she clarified that the cigarette just typified Schneider. "Romy Schneider smoked a lot, she drank and took medication," explains Daniela Sannwald. "That cigarette is essential to characterize what she was like. Smoking was not a crime, but removing the cigarette from the image was."
