A record number of countries hope to have a chance to win the Oscar for best foreign film this year. This year, no fewer than 71 countries submitted their favorite films to the jury of the Academy Awards, as the Oscars are officially called. Kenya is the only debutant in the list, the Academy announced on Monday. The African country is competing for the Oscar for the first time, with Nairobi Half Life. This year, the Netherlands submitted the family film Kauwboy by director Boudewijn Koole.
