After the screening of Paul Thomas Anderson's film The Master at film festivals in Venice and Toronto, Scientology members are taking up the fight against the film that is said to have similarities with the Church of Scientology. According to the New York Post, distributor The Weinstein Co. flooded with strange phone calls from Scientology members criticizing the film. Producer Harvey Weinstein has meanwhile tightened his personal security. The Church of Scientology is said to have plans for its own advertising campaigns in places where The Master is advertised.
