Paul Verhoeven is not happy with the remake of his film Total Recall. According to the director, the new film takes itself far too seriously. "You can't help but laugh," he told NOS Radio 1 Journaal. "The film is full of stunts and special effects, but you get no contact with the main actors," says Verhoeven. The director does not seem to be very fond of filmmakers who fall back on old blockbusters, he calls this "poverty of ideas". "They have no taste and therefore they have no insight into what drives audiences to the cinema."
