The BBC is considering appealing against a court ban on a dramatized portrayal of last year's riots. The now banned film The Riots: In their own Words highlighted the experiences of rioters. A judge banned the broadcast (actually scheduled for last Monday) and also prohibited parts of it from ending up in the media in any way. Due to special legal circumstances, it is not allowed to report which court imposed the ban or for what reason. The film, based on a play by playwright Alecky Blythe, uses verbatim interviews with 270 rioters.
