The Starship Troopers remake will be less violent than the original. This is what producer Toby Jaffe says to the British film magazine Empire. Paul Verhoeven's 1997 film is known for its extreme violence in which human soldiers are mutilated and slaughtered in all kinds of ways by alien insects. "Verhoeven has filmed Robert Heinlein's 1959 book in his very own, extreme way and turned it into something almost comical," says Jaffe. "We'll try to stay a little closer to the source material."
