Japanese director Kaneto Shindo died on Tuesday at the age of 100. His spokesperson said this on Wednesday.
Shindo, who was born in Hiroshima, has directed nearly 50 films. He was best known for his candid works on the consequences of the atomic bombs that the Americans dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The film 'Children of Hiroshima' premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953.
