The Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival was awarded to Austrian director Michael Haneke for his film Amour. Haneke (70) also won the Golden Palm 3 years ago, for Das weisse Band, a film about life in a strict Protestant village in Northern Germany. Haneke was widely considered one of the favorites for the award.
