The Netherlands is particularly notable this year for its absence in Cannes. The last time a Dutch film took part in the competition was in 1974. By now, most people have also given up hope that this will ever happen again. Yet, with some inventiveness, a small Dutch approach can always be found. For example, colleague Ab Zagt laughs for no less than two seconds in Woody Allen, an extensive and candid documentary about the 76-year-old Cannes veteran. .
