Many stars, a sun-drenched boulevard and an opening film about which opinions differed considerably: the prestigious Cannes Festival opened on Wednesday, in keeping with tradition. Early in the evening the Croisette was black with people hoping to catch a glimpse of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray or someone else from the enormous cast of Moonrise Kingdom, the new tragicomedy from Rushmore director Wes Anderson.
