A major collaborative project between BBC, commercial British television and BT is in danger of failing. It concerns a joint project for an internet decoder in which BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel Five, TalkTalk, BT and Arqiva are said to have invested £100 million. The decoder, which has been in the works for years and was supposed to be a kind of hardware version of the BBC iPlayer, was not ready in time for the Olympic Games and will now be put on the market at the end of 2012.
