The American film trade magazine 'Variety' has been put up for sale by its owner Reed Business Information (RBI). The company announced this on Friday. 'Variety' has been considered the bible of the film industry for more than 100 years. The magazine no longer fits in with the activities of RBI, which has increasingly focused on data services. That's why it makes sense to part ways, Kelsey said. The magazine originated in New York in 1905 and became a daily newspaper in 1933 with the creation of the 'Daily Variety' in Los Angeles.
