The Palestinian film Habibi by filmmaker Susan Youssef won the Camera Novo Prize at the Cinema Novo film festival in Bruges. From nine competition films, the jury chose Habibi, a tragic love story set in the Palestinian territories. Headshot, a Thai film by Pan-ek Ratanaruang, was most appreciated by the youth jury and received the Amakourou Prize. Cinema Novo is a ten-day festival that has been introducing audiences to films from Asia, Africa and South America for almost thirty years. 2012 was the last edition according to the old formula. From next year, Cinema Novo will work closely with Open Doek in Turnhout and the festival will not take place until April.
