The BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television) were awarded in London on Sunday evening. The biggest disappointment was 'The Artist', the French black-and-white film by director Michel Hazanavicius. The film, which is about the end of silent films, received seven statuettes, including those for best film, best director and best screenplay. Prizes for best soundtrack, best cinematography and best costumes also went to 'The Artist'.
