The critics of the Union of Film Critics (UFK) awarded the 2012 Grand Prize on Saturday evening to the film 'The Artist' by director Michel Hazanavicius. The professional association of film journalists announced this. 'The artist' is the first French winner since 'Hiroshima mon amour' by director Alain Resnais in 1959. 'The film brilliantly reflects the transition from the old to the new generation, expressed in the film by the subtle play of the actors who pay a beautiful tribute to the essence of the medium without words and in a universal language," the UFK said in a press release.
