After writing music for more than 50 European films and being nominated for 2 Cesar Awards, Alexandre Desplat made his Hollywood debut in 2003 with The Girl With The Pearl Earing. This film was nominated for the Golden Globes, BAFTA and European Film Awards. 2011 was a very busy year for composer Alexandre Desplat. He wrote music for Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows part 2, A Better Life, The Tree of Life, La Fille du Puisatier, Carnage, Largo Winch 2 and The Ides of March. This year he also won 'The Composer of the Year' award for the 3rd time in a row at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent.
