Gust Van den Berghe's Blue Bird once again won a Special Mention at the 40th edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal. This in the category Best Feature Film in the International Selection. Van den Berghe's 'exceptional' film won a Special Mention for Best Film at the Ghent International Film Festival last week. Blue Bird made its international debut earlier this year in the prestigious Quinzaine des Réalisateurs program in Cannes. A year earlier, director Gust Van den Berghe and producer Tomas Leyers were also in Cannes with their previous film Little Baby Jesus of Flandr. After Cannes, Blue Bird managed to progress to a series of international festivals such as Karlovy Vary, Munich, Busan and currently Valladolid.
