The World Soundtrack Awards were presented for the eleventh time in Ghent last night. For the third year in a row, French film composer Alexandre Desplat was chosen as "Film Composer of the Year" by the World Soundtrack Academy. Flemish Minister of Culture Joke Schauvliege presented Hans Zimmer with the prize for "Best Original Score of the Year" for "Inception". Alexandre Desplat wrote music for, among others, "A Better Life", "The Burma Conspiracy", "The King's Speech" and "Harry Potter and the Deatly Hallows" (1 and 2).
