The Flemish government is investing half a million euros in the digitalization of the infrastructure of the smaller ones
cinemas and alternative cinemas. This concerns an investment from the Fund for Cultural Infrastructure. According to the minister, digital cinema offers many practical advantages. Investments for the switch are often very high and the smaller arthouses and neighborhood cinemas often do not have those resources. "Thanks to this investment, smaller cinemas can join the digital wave and we guarantee the proximity and diversity of the film offering for the general public." According to the initiators, the smaller cinemas ensure diversity in the film offering.
