In Belgium and the Netherlands, almost all films are subtitled. But that is the exception rather than the rule in neighboring countries. France and Germany often dub the soundtrack in their own language and in the United Kingdom subtitles are of course unnecessary for English-language films. This is a serious obstacle for deaf and hearing-impaired people to watch a video. Sony is working on a solution to this problem: glasses that only show the subtitles. To the wearer of glasses it then appears as if the subtitles are simply on the screen. Glasses that only show the subtitles can be a solution for hearing-impaired film fans. But there are more applications that can be imagined. How about transcription of calls, emails or text messages?
