After years of absence, it is the fourth year in a row for Flemish film that films have been selected at the Cannes Film Festival. 2008: Collision in Moscow. 2009: Altiplano; The unhappiness of things; Lost Persons Area. 2010: And where the star stood still. 2011: Blue Bird. The Flemish films are represented in Cannes by Flanders Image, the international promotion cell of the VAF. In addition to Les Geants (Bouli Lanners) and Blue Bird (Gust Van den Berghe), the short films Badpakje 46 by Wannes Destoop for the Official Competition and Bento Monogatari (Lunchbox Story) by Pieter Dirkx were also selected for the Cinéfondation competition this year.
