British actors and other performers, members of the Equity union, have voted overwhelmingly for industrial action to demand better protections against artificial intelligence (AI). In a vote, 99.6% refused to be digitally scanned on set without adequate AI protections. Turnout was 75.1%. While the vote is non-binding, it demonstrates the determination of performers. Equity is negotiating with Pact, the representative body for film and television production companies, to secure better terms and is threatening further action if Pact does not agree.
