The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlists for the 98th Academy Awards, with five European films nominated for Best International Feature Film. These films are "Sirāt" by Óliver Laxe of Spain, "It Was Just an Accident" by Jafar Panahi of France, "Sound of Falling" by Mascha Schilinski of Germany, "Late Shift" by Petra Volpe of Switzerland, and "Sentimental Value" by Joachim Trier of Norway. "Sirāt" is also nominated in four technical categories. The ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
