The Dutch film "Rietland," directed by Sven Bresser, has been excluded from the Oscar nominations after failing to make the shortlist for the International Feature Film category. The psychological thriller, Bresser's first feature film, follows reed cutter Johan (played by Gerrit Knobbe) who finds the body of a girl and struggles with guilt. "Rietland" was well-received at the Cannes Film Festival. The last Dutch film to make the shortlist was "Lucia de B." in 2014.
