Frans Weisz passed away on December 7, 2025, in Amsterdam at the age of 87. Weisz, known for his contribution to the Dutch Nouvelle Vague and his film adaptations of works by Judith Herzberg and Harry Mulisch, among others, had a career spanning more than fifty years. He made both major films for the general public and personal projects that focused on themes such as the Shoah and Jewish identity. Weisz also worked in theater and advertising and remained active in the film industry well into his later years.
