The Council of Europe has concluded an agreement on the co-production of series, which establishes the first international legal framework specifically for independent series productions. This convention simplifies cross-border collaborations, clarifies rights, and promotes cultural diversity in European series. It provides a transparent structure for rights distribution and financial participation, and strengthens the position of independent producers. The convention will be signed in early 2026 and will enter into force once three countries have ratified it.
